Line Editing and Copyediting Services
We can help with line editing and copyediting scholarly publications, dissertations, and art institution content such as exhibition catalogs and museum brochures.
Line editing involves more substantive editing on the text itself, at the chapter, section and paragraph levels—checking for things like flow, consistency of voice, style, redundancy, and readability—to name a few. Line editing usually comes before copy editing and doesn’t involve checking for errors in grammar, spelling and punctuation. Copyediting makes sure that the text adheres to the publishing press’s style sheet and checks for correct punctuation, grammar, spelling, syntax and formatting. We are proficient with the following style guides: Chicago Manual of Style, MLA, and APA.

We will complete a careful read of your entire manuscript and provide you line-by-line edits or detailed copy editing. Upon completion of the editing process, we will return the manuscript to you, and schedule a thirty-minute follow up Zoom meeting to discuss your writing project.
Turnaround for journal articles and edited volume chapters is two weeks; book manuscripts take 30-45 days. Depending on the length of the writing project and after discussion with you, we charge either hourly rates or per page fees.
